Chamber Announces Staff Addition
The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced today the addition of Amber Turner as director of workforce development and education, effective Sept. 26.
Most recently, Turner was a recruiting manager for Lyons HR and also served as an onsite manager with Lyons at Steelcase Inc. in Athens where she managed more than 350 contract employees. In her role, she conducted new employee orientations, safety and training seminars, school engagements, job fairs and production of advertising materials. She was employed by Lyons since 2008.
“Amber has a rich employment history of organizing, planning and executing successful events – on and off site – and communicating with large industrial workforces, all of which are critical in her new role on our team,” said John Seymour, president and chief executive officer of the Chamber. “She is bringing with her a deep understanding of human resources that will enhance even more the relationships we have with our area industries and contractors as they look to recruit the best and brightest to our community. Her capabilities will continue our momentum developing one of the strongest and most qualified workforces in our region.”
Turner is an active member of the Tennessee Valley chapter of the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM), and has served as a volunteer with the Greater Limestone Chamber of Commerce – where among many of her interests she was the top producing Total Resource Campaign volunteer. She and her husband live in Decatur.
