Chamber celebrating new teachers with three events July 30-Aug. 1
What: The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce will put on three events to celebrate and educate new teachers in our area. On July 30, the Chamber will host the annual New Teacher Breakfast for Morgan County School, and on July 31, the Chamber will host the same event for new teachers of Decatur City Schools – the latter presented by Nucor Steel Decatur. At each event, Superintendent Bill Hopkins, Jr. of Morgan County Schools and Superintendent Dr. Michael Douglas of Decatur City Schools will introduce their system principals, who will then introduce their new teacher and provide a look ahead for their school year.
The third new teacher event, Teachers on Tour, features new PreK-12 educators and administrators from Decatur City, Hartselle City and Morgan County school systems touring industry and education partners across our area. The goal of the event is to equip new teachers with the knowledge and information to help steer their students towards a successful future and develop a strong future workforce. This is the second year the Chamber has hosted this event, which is made possible by presenting sponsor Redstone Federal Credit Union. Teachers on Tour is a partnership with Morgan County Economic Development Association.
