Chamber’s Annual Women in Business Celebration Tuesday will honor innovation, Athena International Award recipient

Friday, September 27, 2019

RELEASE 19-011

What: The Decatur–Morgan County Chamber of Commerce’s 11th Annual Women in Business Celebration will honor a Morgan County businesswoman with the Athena International Leadership Award, as well as welcome a trailblazing area CEO who is recognized as one of the top small business owners in the U.S.

The Athena Award honors a woman who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in her business profession; provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improving the quality of life for others in the community; and actively assists women in realizing their full leadership potential.

Who: Keynote speaker Kim Caudle Lewis is founder and CEO of the Huntsville-based company PROJECTXYZ. Since its start, the company – which provides customer support in engineering, logistics, information technology, and alternative energy – has grown to include employees spanning multiple U.S. locations and become a forerunner in the industry. Having been recognized among the Inc. 5000 in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017; the recipient of the U.S. Chamber Blue Ribbon award in 2016; and recipient of the Huntsville Madison County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year award in 2015, PROJECTXYZ has steadily garnered the attention of notable sources. In 2017, PROJECTXYZ was named the US Chamber of Commerce Women-Owned Business of the Year. In July 2019, the U.S. Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal awarded PROJECTXYZ Inc. a Foreign Military Sales contract valued at more than $17.2 million.

PROJECTXYZ’s success is further complimented by Lewis’ personal successes and civic involvement. Her business and community contributions have earned her board member positions for Calhoun Community College Foundation; Cummings Research Park; the Huntsville Hospital Foundation; Health Establishments at Local Schools; the Huntsville Botanical Garden; the National Children’s Advocacy Center; and currently the 2019 Board Chair of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. With each accomplishment, professionally and personally, Lewis continues to solidify her standing as a preeminent lead in business and the community.

When: Tuesday, Oct. 1, 11:30 a.m.

Where: Doubletree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront, 1101 6th Ave. NE, Decatur
