Chamber to postpone March 24 State of the City Address due to public health concerns
RELEASE 20-04
In the interest of public health and public safety, the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce in coordination with the City of Decatur will postpone until later this spring the annual State of the City Address featuring Mayor Tab Bowling, which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion.
“Out of an abundance of caution and following guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health COVID-19 Response Recommendations, we believe it is in the best interest of the community to avoid holding large public gatherings at this time,” said John Seymour, president and CEO of the Chamber. “More information about the spread of the coronavirus is coming out each day from state and federal health officials. Once we have assurance from ADPH that the risk of community spread has been mitigated, we will reschedule the State of the City event.”
As more data becomes available from public health officials moving forward, the Chamber will evaluate holding previously scheduled events and announce any updates as soon as information is confirmed.
