Groundbreaking for Fairfield by Marriott in Downtown Decatur

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce had great crowd for our groundbreaking on September 13  for the Fairfield by Marriott located at the corner of East Moulton and Second Avenue in downtown Decatur. The new 80-room, four story hotel will have an indoor pool, fitness center and meeting room. City and community leaders are excited this project will serve as a catalyst for future growth and for the foot traffic the hotel will bring to downtown businesses. Fite Building Company is the contractor on this project.

The City of Decatur recently approved a $9.53 million contract with Fite Building Company to build a 230-space parking deck next door to the hotel. The hotel and parking deck are expected to be complete by the fall of next year. Construction is also underway on the student residence hall for the Alabama Center for the Arts located on the same block.
