Remembering Former Decatur Mayor Lynn C. Fowler
Mayor Fowler served as Board President of the Decatur-Morgan Chamber of Commerce in 1972 and he was elected Mayor of Decatur in 2000. One source of great pride during his term as Mayor was the development of our world class soccer facilities at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
He was a dedicated champion for our city and was passionate about civic causes and economic development. He played a major role in the creation of the Mallard-Fox Creek Industrial Park that is now home to almost 15 industries. Mayor Fowler served on the Morgan County Economic Development Association’s Board of Birectors for 36 years, many of which he chaired. During those years, he helped recruit major industries like General Electric, Nucor Steel Decatur and the Boeing Company (now ULA) and even those outside the U.S. such as Daikin America to Decatur-Morgan County.
One of Mayor Fowler's greatest passions was the Decatur Kiwanis Club where he served as President and was a member for more than 50 years. He was always encouraging those he knew to be better and to give of their time and resources. The Chamber board and staff honor the life and legacy of Mayor Fowler and continue to pray for his wife Anne and his entire family.
A public memorial service and celebration of life for Lynn will be held on Saturday, May 27. Click here for more information.
