Students Explore Future Careers at Endless Opportunities
The 2023 Endless Opportunities Career Fair was a huge success, attracting more than 2,000 eighth graders to Ingalls Harbor Pavilion on October 19-20. The event brought together students from Decatur, Morgan County, Hartselle, Limestone County, Athens, and private schools, to explore a wide range of career options.
Hosted by the Chamber in collaboration with our partners the Morgan County Economic Development Association and the North Alabama Builders & Contractors Association, the career fair featured an impressive lineup of over 50 companies and industries. Additionally, representatives from Calhoun Community College, the Alabama Robotics Technology Park, and Go Build Alabama showcased their departments. This event was designed to showcase the career opportunities available within our community and inspire the future workforce. The immersive experiences provided a firsthand glimpse into the dynamic and exciting world of these various professions.
Engaging and educational activities were a highlight of the event. Students had the opportunity to participate in a drunk driving simulation course with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, gaining valuable insights into the consequences of impaired driving. At the Cooks Pest Control booth, students learned about Madagascar hissing cockroaches and had the opportunity to hold one.
The presence of 3M was once again a standout feature, as their booth captivated students with ghost balloons, dragons’ breath and frozen marshmallows. The range of activities was diverse, spanning from pipefitting to rocket launching with ULA, offering exposure to virtual reality welding and heavy machinery simulations courtesy of Turner.
