2024 Educational Camps Prepare Future Workforce

In June, the Chamber partnered with Calhoun Community College for seven engaging summer camps for local students over a two-week period. These included two Precision Machining camps, two CyberPatriot Camps, the Advanced Automotive Academy, a Healthcare Camp, and the 18th Annual SWeETy (Summer Welding, Engineering & Electrical Technology) Camp.

Thirty high school girls participated in SWeETy Camp, where they learned the basics in welding, electrical and additive manufacturing. Now in its third year, the CyberPatriot Camp for 9th-12th graders offered both standard and advanced sessions, teaching students about cyber security from local industry leaders. The four-day Precision Machining Camps introduced high school juniors and seniors to CNC programming and safe equipment operation. Our inaugural Healthcare Education Camp provided an immersive experience for 9th-12th graders in careers within Calhoun's Health Science Division. The Advanced Automotive Academy, a three-day camp, provided students hands-on skills that companies need for technicians.
