Partners-In-Education Breakfast and Work Session Connects Businesses and Industries with Local Schools

More than 120 business leaders, principals and school personnel came together for our 2024-2025 Partners-in-Education Breakfast and Work session on August 15 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront. During the work session, business and industry leaders joined with the local school they are partnered with to discuss goals and needs for each school, as well as how businesses can support students and faculty during the coming year.

Emily Harris, principal of Austin Middle School, spoke about her experience working with local industry partner Indorama Ventures about their recycling program and how it has helped make students aware of their impact on the environment. Senior Human Resources Manager John Zorio with Cerrowire, Inc. also shared how his team works with students in all three school systems as part of the Tiger Launch Program.

The Partners-In-Education program is one of the Chamber’s longest running workforce and education initiatives, and our entire community – individuals, businesses, industries and more – has a vested interest in the success of our young people and school systems. Thank you to our presenting sponsor Redstone Federal Credit Union and gold sponsors Alabama Credit Union – Decatur and Decatur Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
