Chamber Hosts 2025 State of the City

The Chamber hosted the 2025 State of the City on April 17 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront, where approximately 300 attendees gathered to hear Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling reflect on his eight and a half years in office. The conversation was moderated by Wade Weaver, General Manager of Adams Beverages and Chair of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee.

Mayor Bowling highlighted key milestones that have shaped Decatur’s growth, including a 65% increase in the city’s budget since 2016; the completion of major downtown projects such as the Fairfield by Marriott, the Decatur Municipal Parking Deck and the Alabama Center for the Arts Residence Hall; and the groundbreaking of a new $55 million recreation center at Wilson Morgan Park.

Thank you to Dane Shaw, Director of Development for the City of Decatur, for providing the invocation and to Mary-Reed McMasters, a 9th grade student at Decatur High School, for leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

We also want to thank our presenting sponsor BCA General Contractors and gold sponsors Goodwyn Mills & Cawood, Huntsville International Airport and United Launch Alliance.
