Emerging Leaders: Develop a Fire Safety Plan to Protect Your Business
Our Emerging Leaders event was held at the City of Decatur Fire and Police Training Center in Flint on February 1. Decatur Fire & Rescue Chief Tracy Thornton provided information on how to develop a safety plan to protect your business from fires and other natural disasters. Battalion Chief and Fire Marshal Jason Jones explained how businesses across Decatur use a Knox Box to allow the fire department to enter the building during an emergency or alarm call. This can cut fire losses for business owners since firefighters can enter buildings without breaking doors or windows. The group also got to take a ride on a tower truck and received a demonstration from Lieutenant Brandon Sivley on the “Lend a Hand, Decatur” program that teaches hands-only CPR.
Thank you to our Supporting Sponsor Kiwanis Club of Decatur and Decatur Fire and Rescue for hosting a great event! Our next Emerging Leaders event will be on Wednesday, April 5.
