Education
Morgan County is served by three public school systems: Decatur City, Hartselle City and Morgan County Schools. These systems meet the educational needs of area students and take pride in challenging them to excel in all they do. The area is also served by several private and parochial schools, giving families many choices for education. Local schools provide opportunities for all students to experience success and to be prepared for future education, the world of work and achieving lifelong skills.

Also in the Decatur-annexed portion of neighboring Limestone County is the 110-acre main campus of Calhoun Community College – the largest of the 24 members in the Alabama Community College System. The college offers more than 100 associate degree options and career/certificate programs. The college also has a campus in Huntsville near Cummings Research Park.
The Alabama Center for the Arts (ACA) is a collaborative effort between the City of Decatur, Morgan County, Calhoun Community College, and Athens State University. The center is located in the heart of downtown Decatur and serves as a venue for college art instruction, community education and cultural events, and performing arts. Students can seamlessly complete an associate degree from Calhoun Community College and continue under the same roof to complete their bachelor’s degree from Athens State University. A three-story residence hall for students is being built a little more than a block from campus and will help develop a university setting in our downtown district. Construction is expected to be complete by the fall of 2023.
