Visiting "the issues"
As we approach the election season and the end of 2014, it is time for us to look ahead and make plans for what already appears to be a dynamic 2015 for our country.
Each year, your Chamber takes time to gather as a membership and visits "the issues" at the local, state and federal levels. We evaluate how each impacts the business community of Morgan County and aligns with our mission of promoting business and commerce through volunteer leadership in economic, political and social development.
This public policy agenda is the best document it can be when we get the most input from our members and civic partners. We encourage your participation and attendance at the three meetings we have schedule to develop this annual edition.
The first agenda development meeting is set for Nov. 6 to discuss the Federal agenda; the second meeting Nov. 13 to discuss the State agenda; and the final meeting Nov. 18 to discuss the Local agenda. Each meeting is set for 10 a.m. in the Fite Board Room at the Chamber office.
When completed, the local agenda will be delivered to the Decatur City Council and Morgan County Commission. The State agenda will be delivered to the Morgan County Legislative Delegation in Montgomery during our annual trip March 17-18, 2015. The Federal agenda will be presented during the Chamber's annual trip to Washington, D.C. April 19-21, 2015.
We encourage your attendance at these three meetings and hope you will mark your calendars for the Montgomery and Washington trips. In the meantime, you can review the 2014 Public Policy agenda by clicking here.
