Chamber announces staff addition
RELEASE 18-008
The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced today the addition of Amber Fortenberry as director of talent development and recruitment, effective June 18.
“Amber has a rich employment history of developing men and women in high-tech fields for organizational success, and her experience will be a benefit to both our members and our business community,” said John Seymour, president and chief executive officer of the Chamber. “She is bringing with her a deep understanding of human resources that will enhance even more the relationships we have with our area industries and contractors as they look to recruit the best and brightest. Amber is equipped to address the mission of the Chamber’s talent recruitment program as we look ahead to the next five years and our work in The Partnership.”
The Chamber’s five-year initiative – known as “The Partnership” – is a community and business development strategy where the Board of Directors and teams of business leaders will focus on making strides in four critical areas: residential development; regional partnerships and community image; business and industry-driven talent development and recruitment; and business and industry partnerships with education.
Fortenberry has experience in human resources management with Toray Carbon Fibers and more recently with Intergraph Services in Huntsville. During her career, she has worked in all phases of employee development and training, including employee recruitment through state and national networks, career fairs and outreach events. In her role at the Chamber, she will be responsible for the organization’s education and workforce training efforts.
Fortenberry received her bachelor of arts with a major in human resource management from Athens State University in Athens, Ala. She is an active member of the North Alabama Society of Human Resources, and holds several certifications in the field of human resources from the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM). She lives in Priceville with her family.
