Chamber’s annual meeting to honor volunteerism, celebrate commerce, leadership, community development

What: The annual meeting for the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the accomplishments and achievements in business development, leadership development, community building, workforce development and public policy – all key focus areas for the Chamber.
Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Chamber's Miss Athelyne C. Banks Citizen of the Year award. Ms. Banks devoted 42 years of her life to education, serving 29 of them with Decatur City Schools. She was a public school teacher, the first woman principal at Carver Elementary School and a public school administrator. The award will honor a member of our community whose life reflects the dedication, service and faithfulness to Decatur modeled in the example of Miss Banks.
Who: Scott Mayo, headmaster of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy and outgoing chair of the Chamber's Board of Directors, will emcee the first half of the event. He will later hand off the role to incoming chair Jeff Parker of Parker Real Estate.
