Lawrence, Osborne and Pruitt honored at Chamber’s annual Small Business Awards Celebration

Thursday, May 13, 2021

RELEASE 21-05

On Thursday, three area professionals were honored by the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce at the annual Small Business Awards Celebration for their leadership, creativity and commitment to our business community.

Kent Lawrence, founder and owner of TVW Electrical Supply in Decatur, was named the Raymon Baker - John Cook - Ralph Jones Small Businessgroup Person of the Year; Miracle Osborne, human resources manager for ITW Sexton in Decatur, was named the Arthur Orr Young Professional of the Year; and Tricia Pruitt, Decatur Area Regional Vice President for the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama, was named the Lynn C. Fowler Non-Profit Professional of the Year. The luncheon was held at the Doubletree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront with a limited capacity of attendees and a livestream broadcast to abide by public health and social distancing guidelines.

Lawrence opened TVW Electrical Supply in 1986 and has grown the business into a regional distributor of electrical supplies including lighting products, lighting controls and power distribution products for residential, commercial and industrial projects. He currently serves as chair of the City of Decatur Planning Commission, treasurer of the Greater Morgan County Homebuilders Association, vice chair of community building for the Chamber’s Executive Committee, and member of the Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center Board of Directors. Lawrence is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Decatur’s Board of Directors, serving as past president and chaired the Club’s “100 Year Project,” where the club built a pavilion adjacent to the Spirit of America field at Point Mallard Park in 2019.

Osborne is the human resources manager for ITW Sexton, an international leader in the production of two-piece steel containers for automotive and industrial refrigerants, specialty chemicals, oil filter shells, and both high and low-pressure gas applications. She is responsible for approximately 160 employees at the Decatur and Martinsburg, W.Va. facilities, managing all human resources policy, payroll, benefits, and onboarding new employees. Outside of her professional life in the community, Osborne is deeply involved in volunteer service. She is an officer on the Executive Committee of Decatur Jaycees, an officer on the Mental Health Association Board of Directors, chair of the Decatur 2020 Bicentennial Committee, a member of the Alabama Center for the Arts Board of Trustees, a member of the Steering Committee for the City of Decatur zoning ordinance rewrite project, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Decatur Redevelopment Authority. She is also active with the Decatur-Morgan County Minority Development Association, Mosaic Mentoring, First Priority, and the Chamber’s Residential Development Task Team.

Pruitt has served as the Decatur Area Regional Vice President for the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama for more than 20 years. In her time with the BBB, Pruitt has developed extensive programing and educational events across the region focusing on scam and fraud prevention for individuals, businesses and other non-profits. Her leadership with the Scam Jam Fraud Prevention Summit and Shred Day events has served as models across Alabama for other agencies to partner with community groups to serve the public. Pruitt is an active volunteer and mentor in the community. She is a long-time member of the Rotary Noon Club of Decatur and has received the recognition of Paul Harris Fellow as a distinguished member of the club. She is also active with the Salvation Army and their bell-ringing program during the holidays and has played a critical role through the BBB to connect individuals and businesses with Covid-19 vaccine resources.

Winners of each award are selected from nominations submitted by the Chamber membership and evaluated by committees of past honorees. The event is made possible by gold sponsors Business Construction Associates and Redstone Federal Credit Union.

The Chamber wishes to thank its Strategic Partners for their support.
